There are 110,000 refugees registered in Transcarpathia
Uzhgorod – However, an estimated 380,000 refugees from the war zone have been found in Ukraine’s westernmost province, Governor Viktor Mikita said at a news conference on Friday.
The president of the Transcarpathian County Military Administration began recalling that fifty thousand forced settlers had been prepared to be admitted to the war, but in the first days of March, more than sixty thousand were already in the county.
There are currently 380,000 refugees in Transcarpathia, with a population of 1.2 million, of whom 110,000 are officially registered. The county budget allocated 20 million hryvnia (HUF 235 million) for their meals, and the micro-regions will contribute a further 31 million hryvnia (approximately HUF 365 million) to cover food expenses.
Viktor Mikita said that he had established a “hub” (center) in Transcarpathia, with no guitar left on the street.
Refugees are provided with temporary accommodation, there are those who want to go abroad.
The head of the county said that in the last few days there is a significant number of people who return to Ukraine but remain in Transcarpathia for the time being. There are almost twelve thousand spare places for refugees.
Viktor Mikita underlined that despite all the difficulties, the construction industry has not stopped: there are nearly two thousand apartments in Transcarpathia before completion.
