A stranger will soon be reaping the rewards. Because the man hit the Swiss Lotto jackpot. With over 43 million, the pot of money was bulging. The numbers 5, 19, 28, 36, 38 and 41 plus the lucky number 5 brought the man rain of money.
The excitement was great on Thursday morning at the A Kiosk on Schaffhauserstrasse in the center of Zurich-Oerlikon. Because that’s where the lucky guy redeemed his ticket. Swisslos spokesman Willy Mesmer confirmed this to Blick. The 43 million ticket was validated at this kiosk.
When managing director Katja Hasani (35) came to the kiosk in the morning, her employees were “completely disturbed” by the event, as she says to Blick. “They then told me that we were allowed to serve the winner of this large sum of millions in our kiosk.”
Nothing can be said about the winner
Specifically, Hasani’s employee Luana Marconi (23) had the extraordinary job. “The winner came and wanted to check his lottery ticket,” she says to Blick. “On the screen was just ‘big win’. But there is no amount. I was shocked and thought it must be a big win.” The saleswoman fetches a colleague. He also checks the numbers. “And indeed, this customer has won the jackpot,” says Marconi.
But the winner didn’t give a damn. “And he asked us not to cheer. He stayed super calm, »said the employee. “I was surprised by his reaction. He was without emotion – and then left again. He didn’t tip us. If I had hit the jackpot, I would have had to cry.”
After the exciting event in the morning, she had to talk about it all day, Marconi adds. “It was a blatant feeling that I served him.”
Played for 10 francs
Apparently less surprising was the matter for the winner. Boss Hasani explains: “Based on his reaction, we assumed that he already knew about it. It was probably a bit more turbulent for him last night when he found out about the win.”
The man played for only 10 francs, as the boss explains. “A relatively small amount. You can fill out a whole bill for over 40 francs,” she says.
Distribution in three to four days
Before the millions go to the lucky guy’s account, further clarifications would be made, as Swisslos spokesman Mesmer explains. “We need, for example, an ID card from the person who requested the ticket and a form certifying that said person is the beneficial owner of this prize.” Say: “That this person played and paid for the ticket. In the meantime, the profit claim has arrived at Swisslos in Basel, »said the spokesman.
As soon as Swisslos has all the necessary information, it will take around three to four days for the prize to be transferred, says Mesmer. “Of course, minus taxes.”
It’s a jackpot that makes it onto the record list: “These 43 million are the second highest win in Swiss Lotto history. The highest war 48.6 million in August 2014.» In addition, it was the second longest jackpot period in Swiss Lotto, explains Mesmer. In other words: “No one has hit the jackpot 47 times. Until yesterday, also until the 48th drawing. »
