The agency, which operates under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, rewards significant economic activities, companies investing in Hungary and industrial park developments every year. Last year, China Semcorp, which wants to enter the Southern Economic Zone of Debrecen, received the Investor of the Year award in the category of the largest volume greenfield investment of the year.
László Papp said at the award ceremony that this award is a huge recognition for the city. In connection with the industrial park, the mayor talks about the fact that more than three billion euros of capital have arrived in the city since 2015 and more than ten thousand new jobs have been created in Debrecen.
Péter Szijjártó talks about the fact that since 2010 the government has handled all crises in accordance with national interests, and has responded to all challenges in accordance with national interests. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Finance thanked the investing companies for choosing development over layoffs even in the most difficult times. He noted that public investment incentives had largely offset the effects of the crisis in Hungary: over the years, it had financed not unemployment but work. 4.7 million people work domestically today, more than ever before, and 1 million more than in 2010, he added.
The CEO of HIPA thanked the nearly 200 company executives who attended the event for their investment, saying they significantly offset the economic impact of the pandemic. Róbert Őik called last year an outstanding year because of the investment amount, adding that 2,700 domestic suppliers could join the investments.
