As many as a hundred, some drivers rush to the crossroads on the first class road number 50 near Velešovice in the Vyškov region. Although there is a maximum of seventy allowed. Locals have long had trouble connecting to the main road when arriving from a side of their village. The improvement of the situation and the increase of safety is to be brought about by sectional measurements, which will start operating at the turn of April and May. Velešovice’s technical supervision welcomes the operation. However, some drivers criticize the use of radar, saying that it is only a way to withdraw money from drivers’ driving.
The argument for a critical attitude is the continuation of the speed limit one hundred meters behind the intersection. However, the car will cover such a distance at a reduced speed in perhaps a second, so the drivers will only wait a short while for the normal 90’s to step on the gas.
Checking the technique by the locals will definitely help. Especially in the direction from Slavkov u Brna, it leads a straight section to a fast ride. After the drivers go up the hill, they can start carefree. And then a crossroads appears in front of them. There is a slowdown in the seventies, but it forces them to do the maximum marking, so why brake at this speed when there is no danger? On the other hand, at least the advantage is that after the end of the climb uphill not far from the crossroads, only some are chasing or starting, truck drivers are not.
If it’s not good, you have to go bad. In the case of the intersection near Velešovice, therefore, by enforcing the regulations by means of sectional measurement. When this increases the safety of diversing drivers, it is a step in the right direction. Whoever follows the regulations will not have a problem.
