Russia will be fully covered by satellite communications and high-speed Internet by 2030
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation has published a White Paper, an official document containing the results of an analysis of high technologies in Russia and abroad.
The document was prepared jointly with the Higher School of Economics, specialized private corporations and leading IT companies.
One of the proposed works is promising space systems. Such technologies, as a result, show high growth opportunities in various sectors of the economy: agriculture, mining, construction, transport and logistics, information and communications, education, public administration.
In particular, by 2030 Russia expects full coverage of the country’s territory, including the Arctic zone and the Northern Sea Route, satellite communication services, broadcasting and high-speed Internet access. In addition, drivers of Earth remote sensing services based on satellite systems are actively working.
Another important project is the Marathon IoT multi-satellite low-orbit data transmission platform. It aims to expand IoT services, which will facilitate the large-scale deployment of unmanned and robotic systems.
It is also said that the possibility of connecting to the Internet is received by stationary and mobile objects throughout Russia and on a global scale. The system allows for the operational redundancy of land lines and the connection of mobile communications in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
