City of Salzburg – Greening in Lehen is progressing
Vinzenz-Pallotti-Platz gets fit for spring
Vinzenz-Pallotti-Platz is located in the immediate vicinity of Mitte Lehen, next to the new Lehen church. Especially in summer, when the heat is brewing in the city, the square with the war memorial offers shade and becomes a place of relaxation for the residents of the neighboring settlements. Now the city gardeners are replanting the park around the monument.
Feel-good oasis and shade provider
Deputy Mayor Barbara Unterkofler, who is responsible for the city gardens and the nature and authority department, is enthusiastic: “We have managed to make the war memorial freely accessible and can ensure the quality of stay for the residents and passers-by around Vinzenz-Pallotti-Platz increase the wonderful planting of the park enormously. I am pleased that we were able to come to such a valuable solution together with the comradeship here. The shady and quiet Vinzenz-Pallotti-Platz around the monument is a real oasis of well-being, especially in the summer months. Especially in the densely populated fiefdom, every publicly accessible green space is worth its weight in gold. The redesign and opening of the square rounds off the green infrastructure in the Neue Mitte Lehen. After the greening of the Neue Mitte Lehen in the area of Schumacherstraße in front of the library and the construction of the neighborhood garden on the stadium meadow, Vinzenz-Pallotti-Platz is the next piece of the puzzle in the upgrading and greening in Lehen”.
The remodeling of the square is in full swing. The old hedge is gone, new perennials are coming in for it. This will make the park more open and more accessible to the public. Spring is finally moving in there this week with two small plantings. A magnolia tree will also be planted.
