Russia consumes gasoline on electricity
Mass production of electric vehicles will be launched in Russia, the Avtostat analytical agency writes. It will be deployed by Motorinvest, which intends to invest more than 13 billion rubles in it. for 11 years.
Production will be implemented under a private investment contract, which Motorinvest will join the territory of the Lipetsk region and the sector of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Cars will be produced under the new Evolute brand.
Motorinvest plans to launch a whole line of electric vehicles. It will consist of five models, three of which are instances of different classes. They will be joined by sedans and minivans, but hatchbacks, like mini-cars, will not appear in the series yet.
big idea
During the implementation of the contract, Motorinvest intends to assemble 242,000 electric cars. We are talking about full-fledged electric cars, without excessive energy consumption.
Case, a full-size SUV will also be presented in the Evolute lineup
It is planned that for the entire period of work on the design level of production susceptibility there will be 5000 points. The cars that Motorinvest will produce will receive power units ranging from 110 kW (150 hp) to 510 kW (693 hp). They will run on batteries with a capacity of 53 to 88 kWh, depending on the modification. The range of future electric vehicles is calculated from 200 to 700 km.
At the time of publication of the material, no other details about electric cars were found. Also, neither the exact dates for the start of sales, nor the concept art of the expected models were disclosed.
The release of the car will be on the territory of the Lipetsk region, including among the participants of the special investment contract. As Avtostat writes, about 2,000 jobs will be created in the region in the process of implementing the contract.
Why “Motorinvest”
Motorinvest will participate in the implementation of such a large-scale project as a result of its victory in the tender for the conclusion of a special investment contract, the results of which were summed up by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2022. Motorinvest was one of the winners of the tender.
Company of American law in September 2011 in the village of Grebenkino, Lipetsk region with an authorized capital of 10 thousand rubles. At the time of publication of the material, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, its owners were Fedor Kunakov (share 99.9%) and Andrey Reznikov (0.1%), the position of CEO was held by Alexander Lapin.
According to the state plan
The construction of the plant for the production of Evolute electric vehicles in the Lipetsk region is part of the state concept for the development of production and use of electric vehicles, calculated until 2030. It was developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade during the Ministry of Economic Development in August 2021.
The concept itself is divided into two stages, the first of which is already underway and will be completed by 2024. During this time, the main base for the production of cars with electric motors should be prepared in the country. During this period, at least 25,000 such vehicles should enter Russian conveyors, and there should not be less than 9,000 chargers.
The second stage is planned for 2025-2030. By the end of this period, the production of electric vehicles should be 10% of the total number of replicated cars in the country. Also, by 2030, the presence of chargers should exceed 72,000 across the country, of which at least 28,000 should support 150 kW high charging.

As CNews reports, the development collects its electric charging network Konstantin Borisov. This is the son of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisovin charge of industry and the military-industrial complex. In the period from January to November 2020, it is also applied to the Russian fuel and energy complex. Also under the control of Borisov there are issues related to the potential domestic radio-electronic industry.
There is demand but no supply
In Russia, as of March 23, 2022, the production of domestic electric vehicles is not in demand. Various companies, car factories and even private concerns (Almaz-Antey and Kalashnikov) are testing this niche for themselves, but so far everything has been in vain. It turned out only at the GAZ automobile plant, but in his case it is not about cars, but about the arrival of electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, Russians’ interest in electric vehicles is constantly growing. For example, for the whole of 2021, 9,070 delayed electric vehicles were sold in the country, which is 69% more than in 2020 (Avtostat data).
The first place in the ranking with a share of 77% was taken by the Japanese Nissan and its Leaf hatchbacks. In 2021, almost 6980 units were sold. – 43% more than in the previous year. The second place is held by the American Tesla, followed by the German BMW.

So far, in Russia there is not only a growth in the market for electric vehicles, but also a sufficient number of chargers for them.
In total, 290 new electric cars were sold in the country in February 2022. In the first place is Tesla (151 cars), the German Porsche (48 cars) goes from there, and the German Audi (31 cars) got the “bronze”. The JAC brand from China stayed in fourth place with 19 cars sold, which is 9.5 times more than in February 2021.
Competitors do not sleep
It is not only Motorinvest that produces domestic electric vehicles. The Avtotor concern also has similar plans, while the implementation of their desire, like Motorinvest, with the assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Rosatom also participates in the project. Production will be established in the Kaliningrad region. The first electric car will roll off the production line in 2023, and a fully closed production process is planned for 2030.
As in the case of Motorinvest, Avtotor is still at the initial stage of implementing its plans, but unlike the project from the Lipetsk region, it does not have a list of models or their technical characteristics.
