Russia wants to host the European Championship after being kicked out of international football. Is this some kind of joke?
The Executive Committee of the RFU did not resolve the most pressing issues, but made a very extravagant decision. However, this makes sense.
March 23 in Moscow, the House of Football held a meeting of the executive committee of the RFU. It discussed, without exaggeration, fateful things for Russian football. Firstly, the question arose of expanding the RPL from 16 to 18 clubs. Secondly, the introduction of a moratorium on relegation from the RPL at the end of the season was considered.
Before the start of the meeting, journalists ambushed the head of the RFU, Alexander Dyukov. When asked what decisions are being made today, the leader answered briefly: a problem.
But even wrong decisions can be acquired and the moratorium is not disclosed. But after watching, a brilliant meme appeared – Russia wants to host Euro 2028 or 2032 after FIFA excluded the national team from the play-offs.
Is this some kind of joke?
There are no decisions on the expansion of the RPL and a moratorium on relegation yet
The most important and pressing issue of expanding the RPL has not yet been resolved. A day earlier, the league’s clubs voted to increase the number from 16 to 18: by votes – 10-5. They spoke out against Spartak, Zenit, CSKA, Dynamo and Lokomotiv.
The head of the RFU, Alexander Dyukov, said that the clubs are in an economic situation, extraordinary events, such were not even in the first waves of the coronavirus. The RFU considers the violation of sports control to be an incorrect argument, according to the department, this is an express assessment. But the most interesting thing is that if the working group reveals a violation of the sports level, then there will either be a pause in the championship or its consumption. However, a lot of attention is riveted to football now, and, of course, I don’t want to stop the season.
The moratorium is also being discussed and discussed, but nothing has been decided. However, the RFU said that its implementation is unlikely. This indicates a victory in healthcare, that is, most likely, everything will be as before – the 15th and 16th teams will leave the RPL, the owners of the 13th and 14th places will play play-offs with the 3rd and 4th th. with FNL teams.
New limit format for legionnaires
Against the background of the departure of legionnaires, the discussion of the limit looks frivolous, but this issue has been brewing for a long time, so it was also on the agenda. The following formula was written: from the 2022/23 season, there can be 13 foreign players in the application, but no more than eight on the field. This is a significant easing of frequent frames, because eight were allowed in the club in total. And also in the application there must be at least 12 home-grown players (immigrants from schools controlled by the RFU) and four pupils of the club academy.
The introduction of a tax on legionnaires and the creation of a fund from this accumulation was also discussed. However, this project has been postponed until better times.
Russia wants to host the European Championship in a few years
This point is ambiguous. Rumors that our country is approaching a major football tournament after the mega-successful World Cup 2018 have existed before, but against the backdrop of today’s events, hardly anyone would remember this. But for the preparation of the executive committee of the RFU, they not only remembered, but also put forward cases of occurrence. It was decided to apply for hosting Euro 2028 or Euro 2032.
After the removal of the Russian team from the play-offs for reaching the World Cup in Qatar, this initiative looks futile. On the other hand, if there is at least some possibility, surgery is better than sitting idly by. Who knows what will happen in three, five, seven years.
In addition to the entire proposed decision by the RPL club, to add players from the FNL during the game, as well as reduce the share, including reducing resource costs and profitability. These healthcare projects look like in a harsh time of life, and such nuances allow the club to breathe a little more freely. The next meeting of the executive committee of the RFU died in May. There, most likely, decisions on the moratorium and expansion will be found.
