to “fight against Putin”, a deputy mayor recommends switching to carpooling and slowing down
Since their election in the summer of 2020, Lyon environmentalists have been trying through various measures to promote carpooling.
The website In Covoit’ GrandLyon can count on a small community of loyal carpoolers with just over 30,000 subscribers. But some projects have already turned into disaster, such as the traffic lane normally reserved for carpooling on the M6/M7 but which no one respects in the absence of controls. Or the completely deserted carpooling station on the Quai du Docteur Gailleton, which some residents still use as a car park.
Valentin Lungenstrass, Deputy Mayor of Lyon in charge of Mobility, intends to take a step forward in promoting the practice. On Twitter, he relayed a visual of the Metropolis of Lyon which advocates carpooling as a solution to the rise in fuel prices.
“Are you in a car? As much to fight Poutine, as for the climate and your wallet, switch to carpooling and reduce speed on the main roads”recommends the young elected ecologist.
