UniSpace: specialized training related to the space sector will also start at the University of Debrecen
Debrecen – The specialized training related to space research will start as a UniSpace consortium in the autumn of 2022, with 16 universities directly cooperating.
At a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday announcing the consortium, Péter Sztáray, Secretary of State for Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said he was confident that the consortium, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would work well and be flexible.
The Secretary of State recalled that last summer the government announced the first Hungarian space strategy, which is a significant element in embracing the work of researchers. He said that the purpose of organizing the universities into a consortium is to let them know about each other’s activities and that the activities in the various workshops add up for a common purpose.
Gergely Deli, Rector of the National University of Public Administration (NKE), explained that 16 universities have signed the agreement, according to which they intend to launch specialized training in Hungarian and English in the autumn of 2022.
The training focuses on four disciplines: the living and non-living sciences, the technical and information technology fields, and the social sciences.
He added
the University of Debrecen will be responsible for the living sciences, the Eötvös Loránd University (Eötvös Loránd University) will be responsible for the inanimate sciences, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) will be responsible for the field of technology and informatics, and the NKE will be responsible for the social sciences; the NCU is also responsible for the professional coordination of the consortium.
József Bódis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM), praised the work of Orsolya Ferencz, the Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in developing the UniSpace consortium agreement.
At the end of the press conference, Péter Sztáray and József Bódis also signed the UniSpace consortium agreement.
Ministerial Commissioner Orsolya Ferencz told MTI that UniSpace is a unique higher education product: three semesters of specialized continuing education that enables the unified training of the ecosystem that makes up the space sector in the four disciplines.
Within the auspices of the living and non-living natural sciences, the technical and informatics addition, and the social sciences, 16 universities are coordinated in the various fields where they have training competencies.
The training is scheduled to begin in September 2022, and an undergraduate degree will be required to apply.
Continuing education students will receive a certificate of knowledge of certain disciplines in the space sector. He emphasized that they are already interested in the program from abroad, they want to get involved as a partner, so it is important to start training in English.
