The number of cases of covid-19 in the Republic of Moldova is falling sharply. According to the Ministry of Health, more than half of the number of illnesses is in the Transnistrian region. At the same time, there are fewer deaths.

More than one of the new cases is registered in the Transnistrian region under the red code. On the left bank of the Dniester there are over 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of deaths among people infected with Covid has also fallen in the last week. Between March 6 and 13, more than 50 people lost their lives due to complications caused by covid, compared to almost 80 deaths reported last week.

The Ministry of Health announced that there are currently 24 medical institutions in which wards with beds for patients suffering from Covid have remained open. Only 30 percent of the population of the Republic of Moldova is vaccinated with the complete scheme against the new type of coronavirus. Authorities say the number of infections will continue to fall, with anti-covid restrictions set to be lifted next week.
