The Spring Wines and Terroirs Fair will be held from Friday March 11 to 13, 2022 at Meett, the exhibition center of the Toulouse metropolis, now located in Aussonne (Upper Garonne)northwest of town: an unmissable event for local producers, hard hit by the health crisis, for catering professionals… but also for the general public, weaned from this much appreciated contact (the autumn 2021 edition recorded an exceptional rate of 97% satisfaction) and privileged with artisans always happy and proud to present their products.
150 winegrowers and producers expected
150 winegrowers and gastronomy are expected and workshops, oenology courses and competitions will be offered to knowledgeable producers, the curious and neophytes alike.
Patricia and Gabriel Hughes have a farm in the heart of the South-West: it is an understatement to say that they are eager to return to the Salon Vins et Terroirs.
“It’s not just a commercial moment”
“We’ve been doing the spring and fall one for 7 or 8 years. It’s very important for us, because we know it brings a lot of people. We’re not going to hide: it’s a very good clientele, and we work well on those days. We have a small appellation, Pacherenc du Vic Bilh et Madiran, which has existed since 1962. It is undeniable that the health crisis has done us a lot of harm, but we are happy to start again, happy to be able to show our wine again. It’s not just a business meeting: it’s also and above all a moment of pleasure and meeting people. We share know-how, we present a product of which we are proud, directly to the public. »
Beyond the imperative need to sell a stock that confinement has put on hold, it is these reunions with an audience of insiders, connoisseurs, epicureans or philistines that the producers emphasize.
“Sell to live, present for pleasure”
Thereby Dominique Benz, creator of organic wines at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Ariège, about three hours south-east of Bordeaux (Gironde), between the vineyards of Madiran and that of Minervois. Five years that he has “attended” the Salon Vins et Terroirs in Toulouse, he has forged links with customers who have refused to see him and taste his products: “Whether they are restaurants, wine merchants, or loyal customers, they Taste my wines, in particular this very good “Hollow Nose”, which has a beautiful burlat cherry red color, with aromas of sloes and blackberry jam, with black pepper and Sichuan and a hint of cocoa. Apart from the fact that you have to sell well to live, it’s a real pleasure for me to present a local, organic product and I hope that we’ll go back to the days when, after having worked hard, we went to drink a coffee and eat a quiet croissant, without constraints. The return to real life, what. »
