86 pupils from the ranks of Ukrainian refugees have already joined primary schools in the Prague 10 district, and eleven new children are in mothers’ homes. In order for children and parents to find their way around the new environment quickly, they are also assisted by compatriots from the ranks of employees and parents who have been living in the Czech Republic for a long time.
The Ukrainian community is helping
Městská establishes a total of 13 primary schools and concerns all of the integration. Special coordinators are already helping most of them. “These are Ukrainian parents who have lived with us for a long time and school staff. They responded to the principals’ request and the newcomers primarily help to overcome the language barrier and communicate with the school. Some also engage in other leisure activities. For example, they pass on information about important practical matters related to housing, insurance, residence and the like“Said the deputy mayor David Kašpar (TENT).

Preschool children must meet the condition of vaccination according to the vaccination calendar of the Czech Republic for admission to kindergarten, therefore it is appropriate to arrange for a medical examination at a pediatrician in addition to the usual procedures that provide for insurance and to agree on further steps.
There is no such interest in kindergarten yet. “So far, we have arranged a kindergarten in eleven cases. But we expect the onslaught to come after mothers find work. That is why we are already exploring other options beyond our capabilities, such as children’s groups“Kaspar said.”
Ukrainian parents can apply for a place in schools and kindergartens by e-mail to the Department of Education. “WITHit is sufficient to state the name, surname, date of birth of the child and current place of residence.
