How long will have a statue of courage in the center of the city of Ukrainian color, now it is not clear. According to Fisher, this was only one of the steps to support the Ukrainians. They are now focusing on the integration of refugees in Brno. “We have an approved strategy for the integration of foreigners, including an action plan,” added Fišer.
This is not the first support through the statue of Jošt. In the past, the Belarusian coat of arms was hung on the shield and a historical Belarusian flag on a copy. “Jošt had these colors for about half a year, for one day he had the Moravian emblem,” said the Brno councilor.

In 2020, Sjarhei Smatrychenko, a Belarusian living in Brno, was behind the change of the statue to Belarusian colors. It was about supporting civil society and the victims of repression in Belarus in the aftermath of the then presidential election.
Smatrychenko also received the consent of the author of the sculpture, Jaroslav Róna. He also agreed with the current Ukrainian transformation of Jošt.
