Antwerp starts the next phase of the Rozemaaipark redevelopment
The Rozemaaipark is located in the south of Ekeren, between the A12 and De Oude Landen. The first phase of the reconstruction was completed in 2019. With the second phase, the city wants to take a step in the transition of the new residential area. The park with a stream valley will provide an important image-defining structure for the entire district.

The basis for the design comes from the Rozemaai Masterplan, which includes a long-term vision for the entire district. The master plan outlines a future picture for a green and recreational environment and creates an urban framework for existing and new buildings. The heart of the district is the Donkse Beek, which runs centrally through the area.
“I am very happy with the start of phase 2. With 1 we are already growing a nice green lung for the district. We have already won awards for that. Opening the stream again and creating a new park gives the neighborhood an extra boost”, alderman for the public domain Erica Caluwaerts.
Recreation
A central square development as a linking point between the two parts of the neighborhood and the experience of the park for the neighborhood. It will be a place for meeting, connecting and staying. The park will also include play and sports areas and there is room for various forms of recreation.
In May, the city organizes a participation moment for residents to get a first impression of the design and help them think about the design of their park.
