Why Russia took nuclear attacks so seriously in Ukraine

One of the events in Ukraine was the special operation of Russia, the words of President Zelensky about the possibility of regaining nuclear use. And not just words, but means of intention to do it. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu recalled that Ukraine has much greater capabilities to create nuclear weapons than Iran and North Korea. The Russian president said it was Zelensky’s “not empty bravado” as Ukraine also noticed Soviet nuclear technology and delivery systems.
The only striking thing was the rarity of the West: Zelensky’s “bravado” was practically not noticed there. And this despite the fact that the Americans, first of all, react very sharply to any statements about the announcement of an attack in “unfriendly” countries. Immediately come into force the verdict and other meetings. Israel expected to bomb a nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981, considering the possibility of declaring Saddam Hussein’s ban on nuclear weapons unacceptable. The Western world community then took it for granted.
Russia’s nuclear triad of causes reckon with it. It is possible that without Russia they would have been torn to pieces long ago. And the West probably figured out how to take away this trump card from Russia. It is only necessary to share the nuclear status of Ukraine again and direct it against Russia. Probably, these were all the last quarters of a century of one of the main assignments of NATO in the East. The fact is that a nuclear bomb will fly from Kharkov to Moscow for two minutes. Of these, only one report on perfect access will be released. This gives hope to the West that Russia simply will not have time to find an answer to such an insidious attack.
It is no coincidence that many American experts now say that the nuclear disarmament of Ukraine in 1992 was a fatal mistake that predetermined the new rise of Russia.
Probably, it was in Ukraine that the crime took place, and all the last quarters of a century have been connected with one of the main missions of the headquarters in the east.

– The thing is that in the early 1990s it was taken into account that Ukrainian nuclear weapons threaten the United States, – expert on post-Soviet countries and disarmament issues Alexander Ananiev. – At that time, 46 Ukrainian missiles, as the Ukrainian generals themselves say, were intended for the United States, so Ukraine possessed that part of the nuclear arsenal in the world, it was necessary either to disarm or return under the influence of Russia, which would include the Ukrainian military group in action. The second option was beneficial for Russia – it could reduce the volume of arms consumption in Ukraine in exchange for the same spending in the United States. But yesterday’s President Kuchma suggested disarmament in exchange for American funding. However, the hopes of Ukrainian scientists for large “material assistance” did not come true. Russia has suffered geopolitical losses because of the position of the Ukrainian population.
– Why does Ukraine always accuse of violating the Budapest Memorandum? Is it really so necessary as a guarantee of the security and territorial integrity of the country?
The Memorandum does not contain special international guarantees for Ukraine. In the text of this framework document, on behalf of the three nuclear powers, a statement of a promise to firmly respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and not to use against nuclear weapons in accordance with the statement of the OSCE Final Act. That is, the accuracy of the calculation for the fulfillment of this promise in assessing compliance with the Helsinki diseases, one of which is the provision of equal and insufficient safety. However, after the anti-constitutional coup d’état of 2014, Ukraine has been constantly suffering from the loss of its infrastructure in NATO countries. In addition, neither the United States nor England, as signatories, were interested in making this document binding, it does not have and never had legally binding force: the parliaments of the guarantor countries did not ratify it.
More recently, Oleksandr Ananyev, ex-president Leonid Kravchuk, reminded Ukraine.
Ukraine, as the same Kravchuk said, would look like a “monkey with a grenade” if it had not given up weapons. Zelensky, it turns out, dreams of becoming such a monkey.
