The hockey players of Hradec Králové won the President’s Cup for the first time for the winners of the basic part of the extra league. Thanks to the home win in the 58th round over Litvínov 3-0, the second Třinec escaped two rounds before the end by a difference of six points and have a better balance in mutual matches. The Presidential Cup has been awarded since the 2009/10 season and Mountfield has won the long run for the first time in club history.
Five clubs won the President’s Cup in front of Hradec Králové – four times Liberec, three times Sparta, twice Třinec and Plzeň and once Zlín. After winning this trophy, they were the only team that managed to win the Třinec title in 2011 and Liberec five years later.
In the 2009/10 season, Plzeň dropped out in the quarterfinals in the same way as Sparta in the first year of 2011/12. Zlín reached the finals the following year, Sparta lost in the semifinals in 2014, Třinec lost in the finals seven years ago. He also won silver in 2017 and 2019 in Liberec, and Pilsen reached bronze four years ago, as did Sparta last year. In 2020, after the triumph of Liberec, the playoffs were canceled due to a coronavirus pandemic.
After winning the basic part, they managed to win the title in a separate Czech extra league since the 1993/94 season, in addition to Třinec and Liberec, five times Vsetín (1994/95, 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99 and 2000/01) and twice Sparta.
