“Žižkov metro” will get a new coat. The repair awaits the entire Seifert Street Prague 3 | From the region Pražská Drbna
Prague councilors approved the transformation of one of Žižkov’s most important streets, Seifertova. Táboritská and Jičínská streets are also waiting for modifications. Reconstruction of the entire tram line is being prepared in the streets, which is an opportunity to transform the public space. In Seifertova Street and its surroundings, the principles of blue-green infrastructure and rainwater management should be pilot-applied.
The repair is waiting for the entire Seifert Street
The preparation of plans has two parts. The conceptual study of IPR on the first section, which forms Táboritská Street and the eastern part of Seifertova, is already completed. The second stage deals with Seifertova Street from Sladkovské náměstí to the Bulhar intersection. “Work is underway on a conceptual study of this second section, we anticipate completion in June this year and look forward to introducing ourselves to the public.” said the director of IPR Ondřej Boháč.
The transport company is already working on the detailed project documentation of the first section, which now needs to solve the project of the tram line along the entire length of Seifert, ie up to the Bulgarian. The track repair will bring a new quality of environment, new trees, more comfortable spaces for pedestrians and new surfaces.
The Žižkov metro will get a new coat
The tram line in Seifertova Street, which runs on a very busy line number 9, is the main artery of Žižkov, and is so called the Žižkov metro. “Unfortunately, the track is in poor technical condition and the trams are noisy on the concrete panels. The city has been preparing the architectural concept of the street for several years, which will even allow the addition of tree lines in cramped conditions. Now the project preparation is in full swing, including the reconstruction of the tram line. In addition, the Viktoria Zizkov stop will move closer to the new underpass at the main railway station, so the journey from Zizkov to the train will be a bit more comfortable again, “ says the deputy mayor for territorial development Petr Hlaváček (TOP 09).
The architects are preparing a study of precipitation-runoff conditions in the Seifertova Street basin, which aims to design the use of rainwater in the area for trees and other vegetation and to prepare measures against flooding of the U Bulhara intersection during extreme rainfall. This is the first type of such coordinated cooperation, which brings new knowledge for the capital for rainwater management in the environment of dense development of the center.
“The necessary repair of the tram line is an ideal opportunity for the reconstruction of the entire street. We will replace the old track with modern constructions that will not be noisy. We will also move the Viktoria Žižkov stop to be closer to the University of Economics, and thanks to the new location, it will also be easier to change to line 101 in the direction of Vinohrady and Vršovice. “ described further changes Deputy Mayor for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Prague itself).
