Wastewater from Prague shows a growing charge of covid in the population. Infected according to official data is declining iROZHLAS
About another month, there could be more people with covid-19 in hospitals. This is despite the fact that, according to official data, new infections are declining. Data on Prague’s wastewater, which is monitored by experts from the University of Chemical Technology and the Prague Water Supply and Sewerage System, show a continuing growing viral load in the population. Past waves of the epidemic have shown that wastewater data can predict the situation in hospitals about four weeks in advance.

“We have a sample in this band, it’s wastewater, and now we’re going to pour it into the sample boxes.”
What can wastewater monitoring show in relation to covid? Theme for Janetta Němcová
“These weeks we are seeing an increase in the amount of viruses in wastewater, we are approaching the values of November 2021. I would definitely not say at the moment that the amount of virus in wastewater is over the top,” Jan Bartáček from the Institute of Technology, Science told Radiožurnál and the environment of the University of Chemical Technology.
Official data on the epidemic of the Ministry of Health show the opposite trend. The number of newly infected is declining. Deputy Minister of Health Martina Koziar Vašáková thinks that the Czechia has the worst behind it in this wave.
“If we are all suitable for vaccination, we do not have to worry, we are well protected. And it doesn’t matter what the virus is in the population. Everyone sees that the numbers are huge overall, but the impact on the hospital is reduced by the fact that the population is vaccinated, “he explains.

Vašáková but admits that there may still be more people with covid-19 in hospitals. “The workload of the hospital is about fifty percent of what was in the autumn part of the pandemic, but the numbers do not decrease significantly, so the fact that the virus has reached a vulnerable population means that quite a few people who are not in good condition still arrive at the hospital. , ”He explains.

A to asi s měsíčním předstihem.

Kromě Prahy spolupracuje s Brnem, Ostravou a Plzní. Data zatím nemá.
