Since the beginning of the week, the six Prague city districts contacted have registered double numbers of applications for new travel documents. According to some of the territories, the reason is the war in Ukraine. “People themselves say that they are afraid of what may happen and want to have a document so that they can travel at any time if necessary,” said Jan Hamrník, a spokesman for the Prague 10 district.
A similar situation is also available at the counters of the Prague 7 district. that it would be appropriate to have valid travel documents, “explained the spokesperson of the Prague district Terezie Stehlíková.
The Department of Administrative Agenda of Prague 4 has received twice as many applications for new travel documents since the beginning of the week. “As for Mondays, which are weaker during the winter months, there is usually a request for about a hundred a day. Double the number of applications for new passports since the beginning of this week is also seen in Prague 3 and Prague 14.
Passport reservations are somewhere full until the end of March
Queues formed at office counters on Monday. Of the capacities, some authorities had to stop issuing reasons for serial numbers. “At 4:30 pm, the publishing of programs had to be stopped because the number of visitors to the counters did not stop,” said Terezie Stehlíková, a spokeswoman for Prague 7.
Those interested in a new passport can also use the reservation systems of individual offices and book an appointment in advance. But somewhere they are already occupied several weeks in advance. In Prague 10, they have free dates, for example, from April. “Reservations are full for the whole month of March,” confirmed Prague Ham spokesman Jan Hamrník.
