Hungary’s bird atlas has received prestigious recognition

The Hungarian Bird Atlas program of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association took the 2nd place in the Highlights of Hungary competition. The Highlights of Hungary non-profit initiative has been presenting the best Hungarian achievements in the entire Carpathian Basin since 2014. Among these, the program of the association was included in 2021 on the basis of a nomination, which took the 2nd place based on the votes, it can be read by the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association page.
The now award-winning volume was published at the end of September 2021, after ten years of planning, data collection, data processing and analysis, writing, and proofreading. The available knowledge is included in the nature conservation situation

The maps and graphs produced from the 30 million data records, with outstanding modeling at the international level, together with the descriptions made by the 64 authors, give the most complete picture possible of the population of Hungarian bird species. The results will also help nature conservation, preserving the long-term living environment for humanity. Thus, the pet work of a community covering a country, with the cooperation of the civil and public spheres, will be the result of serving the community, all of us.
