Processes – Frankfurt am Main:Drivers are said to have delivered illegal races
Directly from the dpa news channel
Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – Due to a suspected illegal car race, two drivers have been in front of the Frankfurt District Court since Thursday. The public prosecutor’s office accuses the 32 and 40-year-old of having accelerated two luxury cars near Frankfurt Airport to more than 120 kilometers per hour in February last year. Only 50 km/h was allowed in this section of the road. A civil patrol by the police followed the men.
While the two police officers on the witness stand spoke of “highly reckless driving manoeuvres,” the defendants said they only drove slightly faster than the legal limit. As professional drivers, they had to transfer the two vehicles and were in a bit of a hurry. Under no circumstances should the journey be regarded as a race.
One of the drivers also stated that he had illegally overtaken on the right. Because the court initially had no current criminal record available, another day of trial was scheduled in mid-March.
