Compared to the same period last year, fuel prices rose by more than eight crowns. According to CCS, if a liter of natural now costs an average of 37.43 crowns, a year ago it was less than 29 crowns, diesel rose to 36.39 crowns from last year’s almost 28 crowns. In the last week, petrol has risen in price by 30 pennies and diesel by 33 pennies.
In individual regions, the price of petrol ranges between CZK 37.07 per liter in the Ústí nad Labem Region and CZK 38.26 per liter in Prague. Motorists will pay for diesel from 35.99 crowns per liter in the Moravian-Silesian Region to 37.47 crowns per liter in Prague. Of the Prague districts, the most expensive gasoline is in Prague 4 (38.81 crowns) and diesel in Prague 7 (38.30 crowns). However, petrol is even more expensive than in the center of Prague in the Tachov region, where its price is two pennies higher than the Prague maximum, and almost two crowns higher than in the neighboring district of Plzeň-sever.
The pace of rising prices also varies in the regions. For example, in the Vysočina region, petrol is even slightly cheaper than last week, while in the Karlovy Vary region the average is 69 pennies higher and in the Zlín region 62 pennies higher.
Fuel prices peaked around mid-November. After that, however, they declined, the trend reversed in mid-January. Now the highs of last November have been exceeded.
Compared to neighboring countries, fuel prices are significantly cheaper in Poland than in the Czech Republic. Since the beginning of February, the local government has been reducing VAT rates on fuel from 23 to eight percent for six months, and the excise tax has also been reduced since January. Refueling full of tanks is up to hundreds of crowns cheaper. However, the customs administration reminded that without a tax document, only 20 liters can be imported across the border in excess of the fuel in the tank.
