Monaco and Serbia sign a new cooperation agreement
On Tuesday 22 February, Prince Albert II received the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, at the Prince’s Palace.
This official visit aims to further strengthen relations between Monaco and Serbia. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations since 2007. Prince Albert II previously visited Belgrade in October 2020, where an economic agreement between Monaco and Serbia was signed.
Welcomed at the Prince’s Palace, President Vučić, accompanied by a Serbian delegation, attended the military detachment in the presence of Prince Albert II, as is tradition.
The Sovereign then presented the Serbian President with the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Charles. The Order of Saint-Charles rewards merit and recognizes services rendered to the State or to the person of the Prince.
“Prince Albert II is very educated and charming. It speaks to a large audience around the world. I had the opportunity to learn a lot from him, to better understand the situation in the world.” affirmed the President of Serbia at the microphone of Monaco Info.
A framework cooperation agreement
Following the military ceremony, a framework cooperation agreement between the two countries was signed by the Serbian Foreign Minister, Nikola Selakovic, and the Minister of Foreign Relations and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï. This agreement will “to deepen the ties that unite the two states in several areas such as economy, politics and tourism” underlined Isabelle Berro-Amadeï.
Among the projects on the list, there is the search for synergies, the creation of partnerships, the establishment of an airline between Belgrade and Nice and much more.
The visit ended in the evening at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, where Prince Albert II and President Vučić attended the performance of “Werther”, a lyrical drama by Jules Massenet.
