Draghi in Florence: “Intolerable in Ukraine. Migrants: the hour of sharing”
The prime minister in Tuscany for the “Mediterranean frontier of peace” summit did not shy away from the more complex issues of current affairs
The meeting of Santa Maria Novella Florence for the opening of the “Mediterranean for peace” meeting, which must be on the border with the Mediterranean countries until Sunday, is transformed into an opportunity to address the thorniest issues of the day.
“In moments of crisis – said the Prime Minister – we must defend even more the values in which we believe and which guide us. The coexistence, the brotherhood, which we celebrate in this meeting must also take place beyond the regions in which the events in Ukraine they lead us to reiterate that prevarications and abuses must not be tolerated “. “You have chosen to put your spirituality, your depth of thought, at the service of your weakest ones. May your message of peace also become ours – and resonate loudly where confrontation is sought and war is risked”, he concluded.
Draghi also spoke of migrants: “Several times in the past I have reiterated the importance of a shared, balanced and humane management of migration. Shared because, without the assumption of collective responsibility, action can never be just and effective. Balanced, because illegal flows are not enough, but care must be taken with care. And human, because we cannot be indifferent to the suffering of migrants “.
