The Federal Passenger Company (FPK, a subsidiary of the Russian Railways JSC RZD) has announced the launch of two new trains from Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude for travel across Russia. This information appeared on website carrier.
It is noted that the launch of a narrow group of weekend trains under the general name “Baikal Express” on the Circum-Baikal Railway on March 11. The trains will run on the proposed circular routes: Irkutsk – Slyudyanka-1 – Baikal – Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude – Slyudyanka-1 – Baikal – Irkutsk – Ulan-Ude.
“Trips depart on Fridays, March 11, 18 and 25 (at 20:00 from Irkutsk and at 22:26 from Ulan-Ude, local time), and return on Sundays. Next, there will be demand and feedback from passengers about the trains and consideration of the possibility of an extension, ”the company said in a statement.

Russian Railways noted that during excursions on the Circum-Baikal Railway on a steam locomotive, travelers will see its accessible vehicles, viaducts, stone sights, and also have time to visit the surroundings of a natural lake.
