The development plan for the terminally ill contains several sub-objectives. One of them is the choice of place of survival. According to the region’s representatives, it is often most important for people with serious illness to live in a familiar environment with their families. “We want to allow people to spend the last days of their lives in a home environment that is their favorite and I feel the best in it. We emphasize both the support of palliative care at home and the support of this care in residential social services facilities, “said Jana Leitnerová, Councilor for Social and Family Policy.
For her, the support of not only professional carers, but also informal ones is crucial, and relatives are often interested in the place. “We have also included support for people who take informal care of their loved ones in the budget. We are announcing new subsidy programs, we managed to raise more money, “added the councilor.

According to experts, the need to care for people in the final stages of the disease will increase in the future. “With regard to demographic development, the South Moravian Region expects that the need for palliative care will increase in the coming decades,” explained Health Councilor Jiří Kasala. According to him, the concept will become an integral part of South Moravian healthcare.
One of the components of quality care in this area is home hospice care. Regional officials recently approved support for this service of fourteen and a half million crowns. “Every human life deserves respect and there is nothing wrong with the fact that it is coming to an end,” said Governor Jan Grolich.
