France has called on its citizens to leave Ukraine
Paris – France recommends that all its citizens in Ukraine leave the country and that those in areas most at risk of war be asked to leave the region immediately.
“It is advisable to leave Ukraine for all French citizens who are not in the country for non-urgent reasons,” – pressed the French Foreign Ministry on Saturday. Until now, Paris has only suggested postponing travel to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Diplomacy also named the cities and their regions (Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk and Dnipro) that it calls on its citizens to leave immediately.
Due to the “tensions caused by the unification of Russian troops at the borders of Ukraine and the increase in violations of the ceasefire in the pro-Russian breakaway zones”, the Foreign Ministry does not recommend the French to stay in the eastern and northern borders of the country.
An Air France spokesman has indicated that the French airline will launch all its flights to Ukraine.
“The next flight will leave for Kiev on Sunday at 9:40. Of course, we will follow the situation closely, but we will start the flight,” the spokesman told AFP.
Diplomatic sources have indicated that French President Emmanuel Macron will have a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday night and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday morning to “try to avoid the worst.”
