Prague – The Disciplinary Committee of the Hockey Extra League has tightened the penalty for Brno defender Rhett Holland for one more match for error to Pardubice forward Ondřej Rohlík. The Canadian Bek has recently stopped operating for seven games and will not return to extra-league ice until March. A fine of ten percent of the basic monthly salary remained in force.
The Netherlands was originally given a six-match penalty, which was decided on Sunday by the disciplinary chairman Viktor Ujčík in summary proceedings. The Brno hockey player appealed against this, but failed. After studying the video, the commission agreed with the opinion of its chairman, said Zdeněk Zikmund, a spokesman for the hockey association, in a report.
The new unconditional sentence applies retroactively from Sunday’s first verdict. The Netherlands has already lost matches with Kladno, Třinec and today’s match with Sparta. The comet must do without it against České Budějovice (February 20), Litvínov (February 22), Vítkovice (February 25) and recently Hradec Králové (February 27).
The 28-year-old Holland shot down Rohlík sharply shortly after half of the match in eastern Bohemia, where Kometa lost 0: 4. He received a five-minute penalty from the referees for the blow to the head and neck and until the end of the match. The duel ended at that time for the home striker, who did not finish due to injury.
“The commission did not accept the player he basically bumped into him. On the contrary, that the conflict was preceded by active steps on his part and that he had minimal opportunity to avoid the intervention,” the disciplinary said. According to her, the intervention was conducted in an active, ruthless manner, with significant intensity and without the slightest effort to play the reel.
The disciplinary also took into account that Holland had been disciplined in the past for a similar offense. “And in the last two cases, his actions lead to injuries with longer health consequences,” the commission said.
Holland recorded only 41 matches in this extra-league and recorded four assists. Paradoxically, he worked in Pardubice during the last year. They were his first stop in the extraleague, where he came in the summer of 2017.
