These are the leading employers
Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, sales at Zurich Airport have plummeted, the company has been in the red, and employees have been eliminated. The airport operators should be all the happier that it is still very popular with the Swiss.
No other employer in Switzerland is asked about as often by job seekers as Zurich Airport, according to the analysis of data from the jobs platform Jobs.ch by Jobcloud for the year 2021.
Zurich Airport employs 1,700 people directly and around 27,000 indirectly, making it one of the largest employers in Switzerland.
“Despite the Corona crisis, Zurich Airport remains an attractive place to work for many job seekers, especially since the airport site offers many different professions and job opportunities,” says Davide Villa (54), CEO of Jobcloud.
Retailers on the rise
In order to gain precise insights into behavior when looking for a job, it was examined which potential employers Swiss people entered Jobs.ch particularly frequently in 2021 and were therefore the companies reached when looking for a job.
In second and third place are SBB and Migros, two excellent Swiss employers, each of whom has moved up one place in the popularity list on Jobs.ch compared to 2020.
Lonza new in the top 10
Retailers are particularly frequently represented in the top 10 of the most wanted employers. The industry is one of the pandemic winners.
Some retailers are increasing their sales significantly. Coop reports sales of 31.8 billion francs for the past year. This corresponds to an increase of 5.4 percent. Online trading has grown particularly strongly among retailers. They were also looking for additional staff in this area. In the ranking, Coop is in 4th place, right behind Migros, the discounter Aldi is in 8th place, followed by its rival Lidl.
A new addition to the ranking is the pharmaceutical company Lonza (7th place), with Roche being another pharmaceutical company in the top 10. The two companies made a positive impression during the crisis thanks to the vaccine and corona drug.
Lonza triggered a boom with its plant in Visp VS. The company employs 6,500 people, including temporary employees. Hundreds of new employees are still being sought in the Upper Valais.
Securitas in 5th place and Swiss Post in 10th place complete the ranking. “All of the ten most searched companies on Jobs.ch are well-known employers who not only offer a variety of professions for job seekers, but are also particularly crisis-proof and position themselves as attractive employers through employer branding,” Villa summarizes the result together.
