SAS obtains help from Norway and Sweden – E24
The strike among SAS employees handling luggage at Copenhagen Airport is causing delays. But other employees and help from Norway and Sweden minimize the scope, according to Berlingske Tidende.
The delays for the SAS planes at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup must now be 30 to 40 minutes, and the queues at the baggage claim must slide more or less as usual, writes Berlingske Tidende Monday morning.
– We use administrative staff and have convened the management. We also get help from Sweden and Norway. So it is people who have other jobs in the organization who are down there handling the luggage now, and they are really struggling, says press manager Alexandre Lindgren in SAS Denmark to the newspaper.
SAS employees who handle the luggage at Copenhagen Airport will continue their work stoppage on Monday, even though the Labor Court has ordered them to report for work, according to NTB.
The action has since before the weekend led to major delays for air passengers.
On Sunday, the Danish Labor Court concluded that the strike was in violation of the collective agreement, and that everyone had to resume no later than Monday morning.
The striking workers work for SAS Ground Handling (SGH), which handles the baggage for both SAS and other airlines.
The SGH employees have been on strike since Saturday morning due to dissatisfaction with working hours and low wages. SAS believes the strike is illegal and in breach of the collective agreement.
