Confirmed: The contract for the project of the line to the airport and the Dlouhá Míle terminal was won by AFRY
The commissioning of the railway connection to Václav Havel Prague Airport is expected between 2028 and 2029.
The Railway Administration has awarded a contract to a consortium of AFRY CZ and its sister Swedish AF-Infrastructure for a project to build a new line from Prague Ruzyně to Václav Havel Airport. The winning association announced it today. The railway administration thus confirmed the November opinion of the evaluation committee, which recognized the offer of the AFRY group as the most advantageous.
The subject of the tender was the documentation for the building permit. The estimated price was 119 million, the association led by AFRY CZ came with a price of 109,901 million. But price was not the only criterion, its weight in the evaluation was 60 percent. The rest fell on the candidate’s qualifications.
AFRY CZ gained 96.77 points in the overall evaluation, only the association Moravia Consult Olomouc + Metroprojekt Praha finished close. It came with a price of 116.97 million, its total number of points is 96.37. Sudop Brno finished in third place (CZK 139.32 million, 67.53 points).
The construction itself should begin in 2024, and should be completed four years later. The section begins behind the Prague-Ruzyně station with an extra-level distribution of directions to Kladno and the airport. The new route also includes the Dlouhá Míle transfer terminal. Several important transport constructions are planned in this locality. While the Railway Administration will be the investor of the railway line, including the terminal and the P + R car park for approximately 1,050 cars, the city of Prague will build another 950 parking spaces here at its own expense. In addition, the capital plans to run the tram line Dědinská – Terminal 3 here.
The planned new building is part of the planned railway connection between Prague, the airport and Kladno. It consists in the construction of two tracks in the section Prague-Ruzyně – Prague-Václav Havel Airport. According to SŽ, the appearance of the Dlouhá Míle railway station will pass “Architectural revision in the planned design stage of the documentation for the building permit”.
A separate construction of the Prague-Václav Havel Airport railway station will follow the section of the route from Dlouhá Míla at the airport. Metroprojekt Praha won the contract for its design in mid-August last year. The value of the contract is 94 million.
The commissioning of the railway connection to Václav Havel Airport Prague is expected between 2028 and 2029. The section Výstaviště – Veleslavín will require the most demanding preparation and construction.
