The US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs is considering taking part in a meeting against Russia for Moscow’s cyberattacks against Ukraine. About it informs publication Politico, citing high-ranking members of the Senate.
According to the publication, some sensors are included in the collection for cyber attacks, in a broader overview of the expected measures against Russia, in the event of an invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, a member of the RIAC Senate Relations Committee, Greater Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, said that “if there were verdicts on the invasions, they would take over the defense and cyberattack inside Ukraine.”
The head of the Republicans on the committee, Idaho Senator Jim Rish, clarified in the publication that “such talk,” but he would like to keep cybersecurity aspects confidential in the upcoming meeting package.
In mid-January, unknown Ukrainian hackers attacked less than 70 government websites, including the portals of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Sports and other departments. They appeared appeal in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish languages, the authors of which paid the Ukrainian citizens “to be afraid and wait for the undesirable.” In Ukraine, they believe that Russia was involved in the incident.
