Naryshkin said that Russia is turning events East and West – Society
MOSCOW, 10 February. /TASS/. Russia has been developing for centuries and continues as a state uniting two worlds – East and West. This was stated on Thursday by the chairman of the Russian Historical Society (RIO), director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin at a round table dedicated to the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.
“Our country has developed and continues to support centuries as a state that unites two worlds – East and West. How figuratively Pyotr Arkadyevich Stolypin became more active, our eagle, the legacy of Byzantium, is a two-headed eagle, cutting off the eagle includes one head, you will not turn it into a single-headed eagle and make them bleed,” he said.
Naryshkin noted that Russia has historically been and remains a strange great culture. “Our heritage is a huge asset, no less important than Russia’s natural resources. It is an important development resource that allows us to claim leadership in the global world,” the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service added.
According to him, cultural heritage forms a national identity and makes us a single people. “Care for preserving its enshrining in the fundamental law, in the constitution of our country, as a constitutional duty of the citizens of Russia,” added the chairman of the RIO. These are not only ancient monuments, but also cultural landscapes, folk songs, permanent rituals and much more: everything that was created by the talent, labor and perseverance of our ancestors.”
Naryshkin is convinced that any cultural heritage is always history. “This is a sacred memory of the Great Victory, the memory of the first manned flight in space, the memory of the return of Crimea to its native harbor,” he added.
Legacy of statehood
According to him, the cultural heritage of Russia should include it and the centuries-old tradition of national statehood. “As academician and thinker Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev wrote, from the very beginning, our culture has been focused on the culture of peoples united in state bodies,” Naryshkin noted.
The RIO proposal has also been placed under close scrutiny for Suzdal’s upcoming millennium, which will be celebrated in 2024. “Many monuments have been preserved in Suzdal, reminiscent of the fateful role of this center of national statehood,” he noted.
In addition, Naryshkin paid special attention to the preservation of the spiritual heritage of the peoples of Russia. “I count on the active and fruitful work of the branches of the historical society, especially in regions where representatives of various ethnic groups are densely populated,” he added.
Competition start
According to Naryshkin, in order for the cultural heritage to be preserved, it must be passed on from generation to generation, from older to younger, like a relay baton. “In the context of the sports cultural table, we decided to launch the All-Russian competition” My country is my Russia “. This wonderful project has been implemented for many years, bringing together active and caring young people from different regions of the country. The cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, – said the chairman of RIO. – I’m sure he’ll get a lot of attention.”
