The European Central Bank (ECB) has warned the financial institution about the risks of possible cyber attacks from Russia to increase the severity of stress in relations between Moscow and Kiev, informs Reuters citing two sources. About this also writes Bloomberg.
According to interlocutors Reuters, until recently, the regulator has been focused on combating the usual cases that have intensified during the pandemic. However, the crisis in Ukraine has turned its attention to cyber attacks, which the ECB believes could affect the Russian side.
According to the source of the agency, the ECB asked the banks about their readiness for hacker attacks. Another interlocutor said that banks are conducting cyber exercises to test how well they repel attacks.
The ECB did not respond to the agency’s request.
