What the mainfra is up to SPECIL: In the depths below Prague along metro line A
In 1969, the project of work on route C (which we passed here) between Kaerov and Florenc (then Sokolovsk station) did not end and the new route A began to fill. Its first stage was to enter Vinohrady then the new revolution, today at Vtznm nmst, short on Kulak in Dejvice.
After the change of the project of route C from the subsurface of the tram to the metro, it was clear that it would be designed as a regular track. In addition, it will have to be located at a much deeper depth than the Czech Republic, mainly due to the safe nature of the Vltava.
The construction was officially started on November 20, 1973 by the construction of a tunnel between the stations Hradansk and Leninova (Dejvick). Mining was used in most of the cities, so along the route, the classic tn ve. Thanks to them, quite a house was liquidated in the city center.
Designers and builders valued the crossing under the Vltava the most. It was the first time in Czechoslovakia that the excavator had to deal with the sand dump and the water only thirteen meters above each other. A special machine called TcB-3 was manufactured in the Soviet Union for this section. Seven-seven-seven-meter-long and six hundred and forty-ton tons of monsters cut the tunnel and even made concrete barbs.
The last tunnel was broken through on June 14, 1977 at the Mstek station. At that time, it was finalized at some stations, including the installation of long escalators in Prague until then. The rest of the Nmst Mru station, which is two meters long from the surface, is still the deepest in the whole area. The deepest passengers find themselves under the Chotkov orchards, where they have almost six meters of soil above their heads.
Route A was inaugurated on August 12, 1978. Of course, it was gradually extended. In December 1980, the subway trains were deployed to the Elivsk station, and immediately after that a line began to be built from Elivsk to the newly built depot in Hostivai. Two stations were opened on this junction, Stranick (June 17, 1985) and Skalka (July 4, 1990).
The green route was further extended and in 2006. A new station was established on two tracks of the downhill hall of the Hostivask depot. As the only one in the metro station, the trains run on the surface.

The head of the Depo Hostiva station, the train set first leaves in the direction of the Motol Hospital
The last section of the VA was opened on the other side of route A, to the Motol Hospital station, in April 2015. The new tunnels are reopened, three stations out of the three. The only end of the station in Motol is excavated, with daylight.
You can also take route A in accelerated mode in less than three minutes:
On the surface, even the dog’s deepest station
Thanks to the helpfulness Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague we were able to examine in detail the line A of the Prague metro. We asked for a non-standard lighted tunnel, because the camera would only be the headlights of the 81-71M set.
Pejmenovvn stations on route AIt is, and we can see, how it is that the stations on route A have borne ideologically innocuous names according to their localities since the opening. After 1989, only one received a new name. ![]() Dejvic Leninová |
We will take our ride at the Depo Hostiva station. Let’s get the set out of the former dishwasher so that we can stop in front of the Stj sign. Let’s cross the bridge with a test track and find two dark entrances to the underground. Let’s see the light again and take a horse in Motol.
It can be seen that Skalka station is really nearby. Let’s check one rail link just behind Skalka, he gave in front of Stranick station. In addition, there are two parking tracks in front of Stranická. This was where the turn to Stranice entered, which did not take place in the end.
From Stranick to the Elivsk route, there is a steep climb, in front of the station we have a rail link, in addition, there is a hidden rail between the operating tracks. Not to mention the elivskho was for five years a temporary terminal. Pod Olanskmi cemetery we continue to the station Floraa pod vinohradskmi inky to Jiho z Podbrad.
He gave a temporary ride to the station Nmst Mru, even here you can see the track rail in the tunnel. There is a much more interesting section behind the station. To the left, there is a connection to route C, which connects behind the IP Pavlova station in the direction of Hje.
However, our set continues on the right arc to the Muzeum station. Here was the first station in the vicinity of the Prague metro. We will constantly descend through the stations Mstek and Staromstsk, we have to get to and under the level of the Vltava.

Operation on route A in the 1980s
The massive pressure of the steel doors warns us that we will go under the river first. The seal of the tunnel is so well made that it is definitely unknown that only thirteen meters above them is water.
From the Malostransk station, on the other hand, we have to climb, he put the station at the bottom a portion of a meter in. The first in these cities was one of those v. Let’s get to Hradanská. Like most of the original stations, this field is three-aisled. The tracks run in the two outer tubes, the middle is designated for passengers and leads to the escalators. But Dejvick, who follows you, is digging.
Behind Dejvická, a space opened up there, which was hidden from the passengers for a long time. At present, it can hold two car sets.

Dejvick Underground Station
Let’s go to the newest tunnel of the Prague metro, to the VA section. Let’s start climbing again, this time to the Boislavka station. At the station Ndra Veleslavn you can change directly to the trains that go to Kladno and Rakovnka (route 120, we passed here). Dal station is called Petiny. It is, like Boislavka, single-nave.
He put a rail link and a parking lot, for example, behind the Petina station. The tunnels connect a little longer and the double-track tunnel continues to the final station.
At the horse in Motol again we see the daylight of the station is excavated in the slope, only six meters below the surface. As the only one on route A not island, but bon nstupit. There are two parking tracks behind the stations for a total of three sets. We ride at less than seventeen kilometers.

At the current end of the station A, Motol Hospital is one of two with daylight.
Vhledov is considering extending route A to Blou Hora and flying in Ruzysk. Given that the politician has been talking to the teenagers for a number of years, but he has not stumbled to the ground, it seems that the Motol Hospital station will remain a long ride.
In our spec, we will cross the yellow line, ie route B. We will stop at the parking lot of the ern Most station and end at the gates of the Zlin Depot.
