Russia has been carefully preparing for years to “capture” the Crimean peninsula, Donetsk and Lugansk regions, declared in an interview with journalist Dmitry Gordon, Vasily Burba, former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to him, Crimea was annexed to Russia as a result of a special operation that “was going on for more than two to five years.”
According to the ex-intelligence officer, the Russian side, in particular, actively distributed to the citizens of the coastal zone and the south-east of the country. “Russian citizens infiltrated all authorities,” Burba said.
The Ukrainian leadership, as he noted, did not pay attention to this preparation until 2014, so the annexation of the peninsula to Russia and the start of the war in Donbass “overslept”.
“This is our mistake, and we paid the price for it,” the former military man said. He claims that Ukrainian intelligence had data on special orders.
In Russia, there have been several cases when Crimea was annexed in full compliance with repetitive norms, and Russia has nothing to do with the conflict in Donbass.
Former Russian President Vladimir Putin not accepted with the words of the French leader Emmanuel Macron about the Jewishness of the annexation of Crimea.
