Sweden controls Russia’s role in revival of anti-fake agency – RBC

Sweden reiterated a “psychological defense” agency to combat disinformation and protect society amid fears Russia could invade Ukraine, writes The Guardian, citing agency deputy head Magnus Hjort. According to him, although there is currently no attack on the territory of Sweden, the threat of an attack on the country is impossible. Another part was the parliamentary elections to be held in Sweden this autumn.
Hjort in January changed The Washington Post, which spreads false information in Sweden, focusing instead on “foreign occupations”. “Russia and China often resort to information influence actions, but we can also see new actors participating in this activity,” Hjort said.
How clarifies The Guardian, the previous iteration of the agency was closed in 2008, but the main part of the war was abolished after the cold weather ended. The discussion about the return of the Swedish government agency in early 2016, after the victory of US President Donald Trump and reports of Russian influence in this election.
According to information on the agency’s website, the funded body consists of 45 employees and reports to the country’s Ministry of Justice. Henrik Landerholm, a former army officer and ambassador to the Middle East, was appointed its leader.
