The next day, the Investigative Committee of Belarus reported that all the detainees were Russian citizens who were detained in the Belorusochka sanatorium in the Minsk region.
A criminal case was opened against them for preparing a terrorist attack. The Russians are suspected of preparing mass armed conflicts that may be associated with opposition politicians Nikola Statkevich and Sergei Tikhanovsky, citizenship in the Belarusian Investigative Committee.
The state news agency BelTA wrote that these people arrived in Minsk on the night of July 24-25 and first settled in one of the city hotels. Then they moved to a local sanatorium.
“Visitors are made on themselves by behavior uncharacteristic for Russian tourists and monotonous military-style clothing. They didn’t drink alcohol, they didn’t attend entertainment educational institutions, they kept apart, trying not to attract them,” BelTA wrote. According to the agency, they “carefully studied the coverage and surroundings of the sanatoriums”, dividing into groups.
