Seriously ill people are increasing again in Israel +++ Before compulsory vaccination in Austria, 17 percent were still unvaccinated
Just under a week before vaccination becomes compulsory in Austria, around 17 percent of adults are still completely unvaccinated. However, over 85,000 adults have been vaccinated for the first time in the past two weeks.
This emerges from figures from the Ministry of Health, which are available to the APA news agency. Accordingly, 83 percent of those aged 18 and over have received at least one vaccination. 80 percent are fully vaccinated.
Compulsory vaccinations for Austrians aged 18 and over will be finally decided next week by the Bundesrat, the state chamber of parliament. The law then has to be countersigned by the Federal President and published in the Federal Law Gazette, which means that it officially comes into force. These are all formal acts, which, given the controversial subject matter, will probably receive somewhat more attention than usual.
Carinthia and Salzburg have the greatest need to catch up when it comes to vaccinations. In Carinthia, just under 78 percent of adults had a valid vaccination certificate on Friday.
It was followed by Salzburg with just over 78 percent, Vorarlberg with 79 percent, and Vienna and Tyrol, which at 80 percent are within the state average. In Styria, 81 percent of adults are vaccinated, in Lower Austria 83 percent and in Burgenland 86 percent.
