Thirty years ago, journalist and photographer Tomáš Vocelka began his working career in the Krnov editorial office of the weekly Region. Last year, he won the photography competition at the World Photography Awards, which is one of the most important in the world.
A photographer from Krnov studied Prague from a height. He knows towers, roofs and viewpoints
The jury was fascinated by his set of photographs from the pet crematorium Věčná loviště, which was created for the online daily Aktuálně.cz. Tomáš Vocelka, a native of Krnov, also achieved great success in the prestigious Czech Press Photo 2018 photography competition. As the winner of the Prague Grant, he was given the opportunity to implement the Prague Under the Tower project. It captures unusual views from the tower to the streets of Prague.
Now Tomáš Vocelka is returning to Krnov to present both Prague Under the Towers and the Eternal Hunting grounds in Flemmich’s villa. The opening of the exhibition with the participation of the author will take place on January 30, 2022 at 3 p.m.
Vocelka thanked Aulehl
Tomáš Vocelka has been working in the media since 1990. He learned photography first from his father and then from the recently deceased Gustav Aulehla. He started in Krnov as a photographer and editor, but later went through many other positions in various prestigious media. In 2018, he won the Czech Press Photo award in the Transformations of Prague category. A year later, he was second in the Reportage category.
He is a two-time finalist of the International Travel Photographer of the Year competition and his images have been published, for example, on the cover of the Spanish National Geographic Viajes.
