Russia came up with the impact on YouTube
The Russian authorities have developeda set of response measures in connection with the obstruction of the work of RT DE [версия канала RT на немецком] from Germany“, post edition “businessman” with reference to a source in state structures. Possible retaliatory steps include restrictions on advertising quality companies in Russian online media, penalties for YouTube, and deprivation of Deutsche Welle (DW) rights to broadcast in Russia.
We remind you that on September 28, 2021, it became known that two RT editorial pressure increases – RT DE and Der Fehlende Part (DFP) – were permanently deleted from YouTube. RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan called it “essence of medical warfare”, and the federal government of the Russian Federation takes measures against YouTube and reduces the work of the media in Russia. Google said the channels were removed from video hosting due to hoarding that violates COVID-19 pandemic alert rules.
In December 2021, the German media regulator from the European satellite TV operator Eutelsat 9B stopped broadcasting the German-language TV channel RT DE, which operates from a studio in Moscow. The TV channel called this decision illegal and accused the regulator of exceeding its frequencies.
The German regulator MABB filed a lawsuit against RT, accusing the media company of distributing online programs in German without a broadcasting license and opened a case. RT Deputy Editor-in-Chief Anna Belkina said that the lawsuit was filed not by RT DE, but by RT DE Productions, a content producer but not broadcaster. She called the question absurd.
“A source in state structures”, the Kommersant publication communicated with the materials, stated: “Either solutions must be found for RT DE and their work, as the German authorities did in relation to other media with budget funding, or retaliatory courts were introduced”.
Note that the DW channel in Russia, which came under the gun of the authorities, has two broadcasting licenses, and the top 30 advertisers in Russian media include many companies – VW and Bayer AG. The sanctions affect them, and probably work in Russia with qualified journalists.
