Prague 5: A mobile social unit will help homeless people within the field program
27.01.2022 9:15 | Press Release
One of the key components of ensuring security in the streets of Prague 5 and providing social assistance is direct meetings with homeless people. It is the long-term contact and keeping in touch that leads to an increase in interest in social counseling and low-threshold services in the form of food aid, hygiene needs and basic health care.
Not only for these mobile reasons, the Prague 5 City Council and the City Council Council support the operation of the unit and field program of the non-profit organization Naděje in the endangered localities of the fifth city district.
This project is focused on the implementation of a field program on the street, which uses a low-threshold offer of social assistance, aimed at individuals or groups in their environment. The provision of the field service takes place by means of a modified van.
the mobile social service always includes two workers; a social worker and a paramedic who travel regularly to agreed locations each week. The mobile social service travels once a week to places that are always selected based on the current incidence of homeless people.

“The civic association Naděje has committed itself to work closely with the city district, so we will be better able to respond to any suggestions from citizens,” said councilor JUDr. Petr Lachnit and added: “The target group of this project are people on the margins of society, living in the city district of Prague 5 (homeless people and other people in crisis) who have not established in cooperation with facilities providing social services, or use the help of these facilities only occasionally and their unfavorable situation is not more comprehensively addressed. There is also a growing demand for health care for this target group, which we consider to be a very positive phenomenon that is well supported. It is the possibility to check and solve the health status of people in time without a significant reduction in the risk of transmission of infectious diseases to the surrounding society, “added Councilor JUDr. Petr Lachnit.
The field program has supported the city district of Prague 5 in recent years, part of the mutual cooperation is, for example, the regular participation of the social curator for adults of the Prague 5 District Office during mobile unit trips and the provision of social counseling directly in the field.
The Naděje mobile unit has been operating in the Prague 5 district since 2011.
