Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) at the opening of the winter session challenged the credentials of the Russian delegation. This initiative was made by the head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, according to the deputy of the presidential party “Servant of the People” Maria Mezentseva. RIA News”.
According to the procedure, after Mezentseva’s statement, a vote was held on the grounds that the majority of parliamentarians supported the idea of protesting the admissibility on the merits under Article 8 of the Rules of Procedure. The proposal was made by 38 parliamentarians from five national delegations.

Former head of the Russian delegation to PACE Petr Tolstoy declaredthat Russia needs to review its role in an international organization if its tripartite procedure is launched in relation to the Russian Federation.
In January 2021, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe fixed in its regulations the possibility of using a tripartite approach to violating the CE Charter, which can be violated with serious rules for organizing and supporting less strict PACE participants. The main purpose of the provision mechanism is the fulfillment by the participating country of its obligations to participation.
