“The city pays 12 crowns without VAT for one rental,” said Deputy Mayor for Transport for Drbna Adam Scheinherr (Prague itself). “The total amount set aside for trial operation is 2.4 million crowns with VAT,” he added. Once the total amount has been used up, the shared bicycles will become permanently part of public transport. The city thus wants to support the purchase of long-term coupons for public transport.

Not all city districts are designing
Those interested can rent bicycles from Rekola and Nextbike free of charge. In the period from October to December 1,000, more than 55 Rekol loans and almost 12.5,000 loans from Nextbike took place.
Although the owners of Lítačka are entitled to a free 15-minute drive, they often do not use this time. “According to the ICT Operator, the average loan time at Lítačka is 5 minutes. To give you an idea, this is approximately the distance from Národní to Masaryk Railway Station, or from Strossmayerova Square in Florence, ” he explained to Drbna Jan Střecha for Rekola.
So far, service providers have met with mostly positive reactions. Most people have used the service repeatedly, the number of loans has increased compared to last winter. “The only negative reactions are that our bikes cannot be rented around their homes. In this case, we try to cover Prague as best we can, but not everywhere it makes strategic sense and not all city districts welcome this project, ” stated for Drbna Tomas Karpov from Nextbike.
