Eintracht Frankfurt will probably change their squad. A trio could surprisingly leave the SBU.
Frankfurt – Eintracht Frankfurt had certainly imagined the start of the second half of the season differently. After the high at the end of the first half of the season and an impressive winning streak, coach Oliver Glasner’s team was within striking distance of the international places, but after the first three games in the new year the SBU fell a bit. The aim is to qualify for the Europa League again, but after the setback with just one point from three games, Eintracht Frankfurt will have to collect themselves again during the international break.
In the duel against Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt followed 2-0 at the break and had the top club firmly under control. From the middle of the second half, however, BVB took control and turned the game around, resulting in a 2:3 defeat for SGE. Then it goes first to Augsburg and then in the home arena against Arminia Bielefeld. The SBU was the favorite in both parties, but in the end there was only one point – disappointing for coach Oliver Glasner and his team.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Will there be another winter signing?
In the coming weeks, a new signing should help get back on track, because the SBU has loaned Ansgar Knauff from Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2023. The attacker is highly talented, but was hardly used at BVB due to the strong competition. He now wants to develop further on the Main and help the SBU to achieve its goals. It is unclear whether there will be further transfers. Sports director Markus Krösche has until the end of January to land reinforcements, because then the transfer market will close and only open again after the season.
A lot of work with possible transfers comes to the SGE sports director, but probably only in the direction of summer, because Eintracht Frankfurt is apparently planning a squad change, as reported by Sport-Bild. According to this, at least four newcomers should come to the Main after the current season, but players will also be given up. Possible departures are Filip Kostic, Daichi Kamada and Evan Ndicka. The contract for the trio ends on June 30, 2023. If the players do not extend their working papers soon and Eintracht Frankfurt does not want to risk leaving the club a year later on a free transfer, they would have to be sold next summer.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Trio before leaving in the summer
In the past few weeks and months there have been rumors about the trio, but so far no transfer is in the offing. At Kostic, Italian clubs in particular are considered to be interested, and several clubs from the English Premier League seem to be vying for Ndic, similar to Kamada. Eintracht Frankfurt needs income to plug the big holes created by the Corona crisis. The sale of at least one of the three stars is considered likely.
Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner had not seen Eintracht Frankfurt’s home game in front of a full crowd before the bankruptcy against Bielefeld. Now the SGE trainer is criticizing the Corona rules. Amin Younes has already tried twice to leave Eintracht Frankfurt for a foreign country. In the third attempt, the farewell from Frankfurt works. (smr)
