ALL ANTWERP: “I want to start my own moving company next year” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Alino Lema (40).
“I want to start my own company. A moving company. I hope to realize that plan within a year. I’m very busy. For example, I’m saving up to be able to buy a moving van. Because starting your own business requires some investment. Just a little while and I’ll be there.”
“I am starting Economy and Finance in Congo. There I obtained my bachelor’s degree. I ended up living in Congo for fifteen years. But I was actually born in Angola, in the town of Cabinda. We speak French now, but my mother tongue is actually Portuguese.”
“I came to Belgium in 2007 to find work. First I lived in Wallonia. But then I visited Antwerp and thought: ‘that city is really buzzing. I want to live here. I just have to try that’. And so I’m here. I found work at Katoen Natie, as a warehouse worker. Since living here, I haven’t been without a job for a day. Now I am working for a company in Mechelen. I like to do that work.”
“I now live in Handelstraat with my wife and two children. I love my neighborhood. It is a quarter cosmopolitan. Everyone lives together. You have many different shops. a spark plug. I feel at home there.”
