Thus the positive parliamentarians will be able to come to Rome for the election of the President
AGI – In the end, the government chose the solution of the decree. An ad hoc provision approved unanimously which approves the great voters who should be positive for Covid in the days of voting for the election of the President of the Republic to be able to move to reach the capital and vote their vote. But the rules are ‘very strict’: they will arrive in Rome with their own or medical vehicles, while it is absolutely forbidden to travel by public transport.
Not only that: the big voters who may have contracted the virus will be able to go exclusively to Parliament to vote, in the area set up in the garage of the Chamber, and then immediately return to the domicile, residence or place in charge. Meetings or contacts outside the officials, health personnel and the two classroom secretaries who will attend the voting operations are banned. Obligation to constantly wear the Ffp2 masks.
And, above all, the validity of the rules is strictly linked to the election of the new Head of State. Once the ballots are over, once the successor of Sergio Mattarella has been elected, the rules approved by the government will no longer apply.
The government decree comes after the pressure of the center-right forces and the yes of the Pd, M5s and Leu (initially opposed) and the almost unified go-ahead to an agenda of FdI and Azzurri. A decree ‘solicited’ by Fico himself, who yesterday after the meeting with the group leaders, sent the executive a letter in which he asked for specific regulatory intervention to allow the movement of possibly positive large voters.
Having obtained the go-ahead from the executive, with specific rules for large positive voters, the Chamber continues the organization of voting operations. At the moment the positives or quarantined do not exceed fifteen among the deputies, while the senators affected by the virus do not reach the ten, but the numbers could change in the coming days, also considering the regional delegates.
Already established that the big positive voters will be able to vote in the area set up in the Montecitorio garage, in via della Missione, with the certainty of not being able to have any contact with the other big voters, the positive ones at Covid will be able to reach the polling station with own or medical vehicle, to then vote.
The last logistical and technical details are still being defined, it is explained, but the hypothesis is that voting from inside the car could be allowed.
If, on the other hand, the great voter arrives on board a medical vehicle, then the vote should be carried out in a booth set up inside the garage. Once the right to vote has been completed, he immediately leaves the building. It will therefore not be a sort of electoral ‘drive-in’. Their vote will be simultaneous with that of the other major voters and secrecy will be ensured.
