New manifestation in Brussels for debate on corona measures
Next Sunday, January 23, a new manifestation about the corona measures would take place in Brussels. “We are not against the corona measures per se,” said Tom Meert, chairman of Europeans United, one of the organizers of the demonstration. “We are mainly against the undemocratic way in which this is done.”
To be clear: the demonstration has not yet admitted the problems. There are contacts with the organizers, and the investigation is ongoing, according to the spokeswoman for the Brussels police. In any case, sufficient personnel and resources will be provided to frame the demonstration. Europeans United legislation in a press release also its own security service.
Europeans United organizes the demonstration together with more than 600 local associations from all over Europe. They are said to be taking to the streets for freedom, democracy, human rights and respect for the constitution. Links with the extreme right and anti-vaxers are shunned. “We are not corona skeptics,” said Meert. “And all draws are welcome. We don’t want any political recuperation.”
‘Mutual understanding’
“We want to point out that a large and red group of people are no longer heard in the social debate,” says Meert. He wants to achieve greater understanding through debate. Meert argues in favor of pleading with parliament. He also believes that the GEMS expert group has been given too much power in the crisis, even though “those people are not the problem in themselves.”
The manifestation must start at 11 a.m. at the Brussels North Station. Via the European quarter it goes to Cinquantenaire Park where international speakers are foreseen. The organizers expect tens of thousands of participants. Demonstrations are taking place this weekend in dozens of cities worldwide.
