How did the names Prague and Brno come about? Do you know which city translates to Fragrant Harbor?
Experts have several possible explanations for the name Prague. It could be derived from the word prah according to the threshold, i.e. the rapids on the Vltava river or according to the threshold or beams across the Vltava ford (i.e. the place where there is so little water in the river that you can cross it without having to swim). But there is also a version that Prague is related to the words pražiti and parched.
The origin of the name of the city of Brno is really far from arid. And do you know how and which world city earned its poetic name, which translates as “fragrant port”? He will tell you more Eva Sinkovicová in the next part of the show Inquisitor. Perk up your ears, start the audio and you will be surprised!
